Crash!

So, somebody crashed into the front of our house. And drove off!
Neighbour's saw it, and rang us to tell us.
We know who did it, one of the other neighbours. He says they were visitors and he 'doesn't know’ who they are.
We all know he's a liar! The police say we need more proof! *Rolls eyes*
There is significant structural damage.
We had to call out the fire brigade to assess it. And break in at the back door so we could get in. Because the front door is jammed solid. We can lock and unlock it, but that's all we can do with it.
The only access to our house is now out the back door, down a step, across our garden, across a neighbours garden and up some steep steps at the side of their house.
I'm not good with steps!
I used to go out of the front door into the car, or drive my scooter out the front door to go trundling. Now I can do neither of those things and by the time I've managed the steps at the side of the neighbours house, my legs are already jelly. I am finding this really difficult, which I suppose anyone would. But for me, it's doubly difficult.
I've already had a couple of falls because my body can't take much more.
We're waiting for insurance assessors, and they don't move fast do they.
But at least the police have finally started investigating and asking for any cctv footage in the area.
Seeing the man that knows about this just going about his day as if nothing has happened has really got to me.
Accidents happen, we know this, that's life. But to drive off and lie about it is appalling!
A simple sorry would help. If it was heartfelt. But he doesn't care.
